About Us

Life is all about experiences.   

This idea was born from the experiences of a small group of friends in Orange County, California.

Our vacations used to be dictated by the fixed itineraries of travel tours, herded in groups through every popular tourist destination. These tours brought us to so many beautiful sights, but gave us so little time to enjoy them. They arranged nice lodging, but picked isolated locations away from popular areas, making it inconvenient to plan extra activities for when the tour ended in the evenings. These imperfections became more noticeable to us and our friends with every trip we took.

Nowadays, people like to free themselves from the rigidness of tours and gather their own information online. But this convenience and accessibility has become a mess of overwhelming information. There was no shortage of advice, but we found ourselves spending endless nights searching and struggling to piece together a plan from all the bits and pieces of other people’s experiences. We liked the idea of wandering and exploring at our leisure; however, we spent more time on searching than on what we had arranged, visiting less sights than what we thought we would see.

IPYT is a travel platform built from our experiences. We love to travel, learn about different cultures, enjoy delicious local foods, and experience all the amazing places the world has to offer. We understand what travelers need and we also know what we want to avoid. We hope that all our trial and errors, our joys and wonders, and all the memories in between, can now be used to help you create the vacation of your dreams.
